The race to build a scalable, error-corrected quantum computer

Established in 2000, with Australian Research Council Centres of Excellence funded in 2003 – 2010, 2011 – 2017 and most recently in 2018 – 2024, the CQC2T has demonstrated clear international leadership in quantum computation and quantum communications research.

The Centre has achieved several world leading research outcomes including:

  • the highest fidelity, longest coherence time qubits in the solid state
  • engineered single atom devices
  • optically addressed a single atom
  • created the world’s longest lived quantum memory
