Development of WSi superconducting single photon detectors

Single photon detectors are essential elements in the field of quantum optics. Amongst all the existing detector technologies, superconducting single photon detectors (SSPDs) based on WSi material turned out to be promising due to their high efficiency at near infrared wavelengths, fast recovery time, low timing jitter and low dark count rate. Moreover, the as-deposited WSi film is amorphous and highly uniform. The fabricated devices thus show high reproducibility and are more robust to the substrate defects. In this talk we report on the development of fibre-coupled WSi SSPDs including fabrication and characterisation
