RARE-EARTH INTEGRATION PROGRAM MANAGER
Senior Research Fellow, ANU
PhD in Physics (ANU, 2013)
PhB with Honours in Physics (ANU, 2008)
Dr Ahlefeldt gained her undergraduate PhD degree from ANU in 2008 with Honours in Physics and the University Medal. She then completed a PhD with Associate Professor Matt Sellars at ANU in 2013, and took up a postdoctoral position at Laboratoire Aimé Cotton in France. She was awarded a Fulbright Postdoctoral scholarship and travelled to the USA to work at Montana State University. She returned to ANU in 2016 as a DECRA Research Fellow funded by the Australian Research Council.
Dr Ahlefeldt’s research expertise is in quantum information applications of rare earth crystals, including quantum memories, quantum processors, and optical quantum interconnects for various quantum computing technologies. Her primary research interest is in optimising rare earth materials to improve quantum device performance, and she has a leading expertise in the experimental and theoretical study of strongly interacting rare earth systems. She has over 25 published journal articles, including papers in Nature, Nature Physics, and Physical Review Letters.
